Since 1990 Hernando County has been active in artificial reef development. Funding is provided by a combination of federal, state and local government, as well as private funds. This is done through the Division of Marine Fisheries Management of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

Art in the Park has Record-Breaking Attendance  

Perfect Florida weather greeted the 34th Annual Art in the Park festival sponsored by the Hernando County Fine Arts Council on March 10 and 11. The weekend event drew an estimated 6,000 people to Tom Varn Park in Brooksville. Vendors and exhibitors came from all over the state and the country.

Brooksville Garden Club Membership will picnic on the verandas and surrounding areas of Chinsegut Manor House & Retreat Center, on Wednesday, April 11th. While having a BYOBag (and lawn chair) lunch at 12 Noon fellow Member, Marie O’Neill, will speak of the Hill’s native & exotic plants with a walking tour of the grounds for those interested.

For one day only, the World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids will hold a signing for the 2018 Weeki Wachee Mermaid calendar. The event will take place Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 9 AM - 10:30 AM.

Live Oak Theatre receives $100,000 anonymous donation for Brooksville performing arts center  

For the Live Oak Theatre Company, the show will go on. The company, now in its eighth performance season, has raised nearly $138,000 in donations toward its campaign to purchase a former Hernando County administration building at 21030 Cortez Boulevard and transform it into "The Live Oak Center for the Performing Arts."
