The Mermaid Chase 4K Paddling Race

Join the inaugural Mermaid Chase 4k Paddling Race along our new Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail!

All proceeds will be donated to establish a salt marsh grass nursery at the Gulf Coast Academy of Science and Technology for coastal restoration projects in Hernando County.

Participants will begin course at Linda Pedersen Park and paddle a 4k (2.5 mile) loop along the Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail. Participants will be released by corral to prevent overcrowding of trail and must finish race within three hours of start.

Registration: $40.00

Spring and summer herald a frenzy of activity by baby birds, many of them falling from their nests or becoming injured in some other way. Hope Wildlife Rehabilitation is an organization federally licensed to assist these tiny birds. The Baby Bird Show event will be a fundraiser as well as an educational day.

Included are displays and talks about hawks and owls, guided nature walks, and a performance by singer-songwriter Jonathan L. Widger. Activities include a silent auction, "white elephant" sale, bake sale, information on backyard birding, bird "adoptions," and craft activities for youngsters. Funds and supplies collected will be donated to Hope. Admission: donation from the Baby Bird Wish List – select-a-size paper towels, bath towels in dark colors, original blue Dawn liquid soap, Simple Green cleaning solution, laundry detergent and bleach.

The annual Water Easter Egg Hunt will take place at Buccaneer Bay ... be sure the kids bring their bathing suits and a basket!! Egg Hunt times are: 11:00am, Ages 0-3, at the Kiddie Pool; 12:00pm, ages 4-6 at the Kiddie Pool. For the older children, 1:00pm, ages 7-10, at the Beach, and 2:00pm, ages 11-13, at the Beach. Park admission: Adults, $13.00; ages 6-10, $8.00; age 5 and under, free.

This evening event will feature a variety of local businesses including arts and crafts, local retailers, non-profit organizations, plus a fun-filled family activity area with glow-in-the-dark face painting and plenty of games. We’ve heard the Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance – bring your camera for great photo memories. Don’t miss out on the Free Egg Hunts! “Twilight” egg hunt for ages 2-4 years; Glow-in-the-dark egg hunt for children 5-13 years (Age Categories will defined before the event) 

Did we mention the glow-in-the-dark dance floor with the coolest DJ spinning this year’s favorite tunes? All proceeds to benefit the Chamber Education Training Association (CETA).

Admission: $5.00 per person at the gate; online pre-purchase, $3.00 per person ages 3 and up.
