The Great Grape Escape

Stay & Play Inspiration

Welcome to Muscadine grape season. Ripe and ready to pick, these colossal, deep purple or bronze orbs are tasty and nutrition-rich. Pluck and eat them one-by-one or
get creative with limitless delectable preparations.

Muscadine grape vines are well adapted to our warm and humid climate; they need fewer chilling hours than better known varieties, thriving on summer heat.

The Muscadine grape season is typically in August each year, with the available crop ripe for about three weeks. Actual dates are weather dependent and local growers post harvest status on websites and Facebook.

Day One: Vine Time

Enjoy a day in the countryside visiting one or both Adventure Coast vineyards to harvest your special grapes. Grab your bag or basket, sunscreen, hat and closed-toe shoes; it won’t take long to collect as many as you can carry.

• Early Fry (light bronze color and sweet)
• Late Fry (dark bronze our best Muscadine)
• Supreme (dark in color the very best of the black Muscadine)
• Pam (light bronze with a unique flavor)
• Darlene (bronze color, our most popular)

Day Two: Preserve the Summertime

Not only are these seasonal treats great for snacks; hundreds of recipes are
available for processing your harvested grapes into wines, jams, jellies,
sauces and other tasty delights.
