Terrain variety, natural surroundings and a shady small downtown welcome bicyclists to Florida’s Adventure Coast. Home to the Brooksville Ridge, it boasts challenging elevation changes amid miles of level terrain. Winding through forests, preserves and scenic countryside, your perfect ride awaits!

New to Adventure Coast cycling? Here is what you need to know:

Anything goes

Road, touring, mountain or racing bikes in straight up, prone, recumbent, or tiny trailer-towing tandems are all good here.

The Withlacoochee State, Suncoast and Good Neighbor Trails are smooth, wide, paved expanses free of motorized vehicles and easily host all manner of pedal power.

Freeform or Organized

Prepare for an independent ride by reviewing the official Adventure Coast Bicycle Trail Map. Locate the trailhead and parking area suited for you.

GOOD nEIGHBOR tRAIL

Be among the first to travel the full paved length of the Good Neighbor Trail; starting at downtown Brooksville's Russell Street Park, ride ten miles to the Withlacoochee State Trail. Mark your calendar and plan to join the Inaugural Good Neighbor Trail Ride in Brooksville on October 14, 2018.

If you enjoy the comradery of group rides, join the Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday evening shop rides lead by the Black Bear Bike Shop. Also available to join is a Saturday morning twelve-mile ride.

Whichever approach you take, be sure to bring your Adventure Coast bike map and check the weather forecast. If you would like to create your own route or see if one is already mapped, check this Biking in Florida or the Ride with GPS app.

Gear Up

Besides a map and smart phone app, some other items to carry are tool kit, water, sunblock, insect repellent, camera and rain gear. Both Crank Works and Black Bear love to match customers with ideal new or used bicycles, do bike repairs and carry a full line of accessories and tools.

Safe and Sound

Helmets highly recommended and required for those sixteen and under in Florida. Wearing a helmet can save your life. Choose the best helmet for you by investing in comfort and quality.

A recent safety enhancement for Suncoast Trail users is GPS decals placed along the trail. Should you need help, just tell rescue personnel the nearest coordinates to assure quick response.

Exclusive AAA Benefit:
New Bicycle Assist Program

The American Automobile Association (AAA) recently expanded their roadside assistance to include bicycles! AAA will pick up members whose bikes have broken down and take them and their bike to wherever they need to go – their car, a bike repair shop or home. AAA just needs to be able to access the bike from a road or parking lot.
